Two months after the introduction of Mobile Number Portablility (MNP), Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) has revealed the number of people ported in and out of the operators. Their report says, less than 1 % of the total subscribers have ported to other operators after MNP.
GSM is the most preferred platform over CDMA, for the range of Value added services (VAS) it offers and variety of handsets supported.
Based on net additions for the last two months, Vodafone is in the lead with half a million subscribers porting in and just 300 thousand porting out of their network.
Based on % of net additions Idea leads the MNP war by adding 0.18% to their overall 84 million subscribers on their network.
Airtel has added more than half a million subscribers, but lost around 380 thousand subscribers. Reliance is the one that comes last losing more than 350 thousand subscribers with % net additions of -0.24 of their total subscribers.

Vodafone will launch Google’s Nexus One handset in April, according to an update on the operator’s website. In March, the network posted the handset, made by HTC, on its website, with a ‘coming soon’ tag.

The phone will be sold through the Google store online either Sim-free or connected to an operator.

The Nexus One operates on a 1Ghz Snapdragon processor and will operate on Android 2.1, the newest version of the operating system. Vodafone has also announced an April launch of the HTC Legend and HTC Desire and indicated a spring launch for the Sony Ericsson X10.

Vodafone has an exclusive deal on the HTC Legend. The device will come pre-loaded with a range of Vodafone 360 services, including Vodafone Music and MyWeb, as well as full access to the Android Market for apps. The Legend comes with a 3.2-inch, AMOLED HVGA display and a five-megapixel camera and a new optical joystick function.

The HTC Desire has a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA display and access to social networking sites including Facebook, Twitter and Flickr on HTC’s Friend Stream. The device is powered by a 1GHz Snapdragon processor and comes with full Google application app store integration.
